Famous Annapurna Base Camp Trek is 10 days of trekking in Nepal. The journey to the base camp of the 10th highest mountain in the world, ABC trek combines the natural and cultural wonders of the region. Widely known as Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, the trip is inside the biggest conservation area of Nepal.
Your trek to Annapurna base camp starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Pokhara is a famous city for lakes and mountains. From there, with a short drive, you will get to Nayapul to start the journey. The official trek then starts from there via Birethanti village. The route gradually climbs to Ghorepani via Ulleri village. These villages are dominated by the Magar and Gurung people. Poon Hill at 3210 meters is one of the major points of the trek. Located at the top of the hill, this place offers 360 views of the Himalayas including the Annapurna to Dhaulagiri ranges. Likewise, sunrise is a thing to see from here.
Then after the trek gradually climbs further via Tadapani and Chhomorong villages. Chhomorong is one of the beautiful Gurung villages on the route. Similarly, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek includes collecting wonderful views of waterfalls and awesome landscapes. Furthermore, walking through dense forests of rhododendron and bamboo is fascinating.
Macchhapuchre Base Camp at 3700 meters is the next highlight of the ABC trek. MBC is the last camp before reaching Annapurna Base Camp. Some of the travelers set their camp here and used to hike to ABC as a day trip too. But our Annapurna Base Camp Trek itinerary is designed to spend a night at Annapurna base camp, so you will be further hiking to ABC for the night. The evening at ABC welcomes with stunning sunset views over the Annapurna range. Likewise, the dawn comes with supreme sunrise views around the Himalayas.
The best time to trek Annapurna base camp is spring and autumn. Although trekking Annapurna base camp is also doable in the months of December too. But trekking to ABC is not suggested in the months of July and August.
As your bus leaves early morning at 7 a.m., take an early breakfast and catch your bus from Tourist Bus Station. The journey to Pokhara is always wonderful as you will pass several small and big settlements via the raging Trishuli River. On the way, the bus will stop for the lunch.
Take an early breakfast and get ready for the trekking. Today you will first take a short drive to Nayapul from Pokhara. From Nayapul, you will be starting your trekking. The trail from Nayapul is an easy trail where you walk through the stone-paved steps passing several small villages. Just below Ulleri, you will be treated with the first glimpse of Annapurna South and Himchuli. Overnight in Ulleri at a teahouse.
Note: On the way to Ulleri you will be passing Tikhe shunga(1540m.)
A tough yet wonderful trekking day. Today you will be trekking through the dense rhododendron forest. The hiking will be more special if it is in the spring as the Rhododendron blooms around with seven colors. Upon you reach Ghorepani, you will forget all the pains you had during the walking as the mountain views are just perfect and refreshing.
The best day of the trekking. Wake up early morning, take your torchlight and start hiking up to Poon Hill. It takes one hour to get up to Poon Hill from Ghorepani. At Poon Hill, you can collect the superb sunrise view in Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayan ranges.
After collecting the amazing views, trek back to Ghorepani for the breakfast, then start your trek to Tadapani. On the way to Tadapani, the wonderful views of the mountains accompany you.
The trail till Kimrong is ascending. From Kimrong trek gently to get to Chhmommorng which is a small Gurung village.
As an easy trekking day. On the way to Bamboo, you will be passing Sinuwa(2360m.) which offers wonderful views of Annapurna and the villages inside Ghandruk municipality.
Take an early breakfast then start the trekking through the long steep stone staircase to Dobhan (2600m.) From Doban you will further to Himalaya(2920m.) then pass the Hinku Cave before getting to Deurali.
Slightly hard plus equally rewarding trekking day. First climb up to Machhapuchre base camp which offers the stunning view of Machhapuchhre along with Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli, and Gangapurna.
Further, push yourself up to Annapurna Base Camp which also treats you with magnificent views of the mountains including, South, including Machhapuchhre, AnnSouth, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, and other peaks.
Long yet easy trekking day. Most of the trail you follow today will be downhill. Trek gently to Bamboo with enjoying the extraordinary landscapes.
Take an early breakfast and start the trekking. The trail till Khuldighar(2540m.). From there trek downhill to Chhomorng and furthermore downhill to Jhinu Danda. Jhinu Danda is a Natural Hot Spring place where you can take a dip in the hot water pond and refresh the tired body.
After breakfast, trek down to Modkyu. Along the way, you can enjoy wonderful landscapes. From there you will be taking a drive back to Pokhara.
As your bus leaves early morning at 8 a.m., take an early breakfast and catch your bus from Tourist Bus Station and drive back to Kathmandu. On the way, the bus will stop for the lunch.
